Meet OuR Captains
I’m Capt. CJ Rojas, Jr., and I’ve been a charter guide in South Louisiana since 1998. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several local charter companies and fish with some incredible people, but I always dreamed of owning and operating my own business. In 2009, that dream became a reality.
Choosing the name Rojas Charters was easy. I’m very proud of my name and my heritage. My grandparents on my father’s side were born in Clarksville, a fishing village south of Lafitte. My grandmother on my mother’s side was raised on a houseboat along the bayous of South Louisiana, and my grandfather was a lifelong crab fisherman. I spent countless hours on the water with him, and over the years, I watched the signs of Clarksville slowly disappear. Today, I fish the same waters my grandfather once worked.
My father was also a commercial fisherman, and I spent my summers trawling for shrimp with him. He owned and operated seven trawl boats throughout my life and was a great fisherman, always bringing in his share. From a young age, he taught me the inland waters and how to read the tides. Any free time I had was spent fishing and hunting.

At the age of nine, I inherited my grandfather’s boat and a 35 horsepower motor, which felt like a herd of horses back then. I went from running catfish lines across the bayou to exploring Lake Salvador and beyond, sometimes farther than my mother knew about. As a teenager, I spent my summers working offshore on my uncle’s 90 foot trawl boat, the Iron Maiden. Even then, any spare time I had was spent fishing.
After graduating from college and trying a real job for a few years, the bayou called me back. I began guiding redfish and speckled trout fishing charter trips part time, and it quickly became my full time career. It did not take long for me to realize I could make a living bringing people out on this beautiful estuary to experience the pastime I have loved my entire life. Today, I spend an average of 240 days a year on the water.
Fishing is not just what I do, it is who I am. I am a true bayou boy at heart, and together with my experienced team, we take pride in sharing that passion every day on the water.
